Is Vibe Coding my new thing?

A few years ago, building a spatial-audio engine plugin for a web browser required deep DSP knowledge, weeks of EQ tuning, and Chrome extension expertise that most engineers never develop.

Today I described the experience I wanted to create — and shipped it.

🎧 SoundControl is a Chrome extension I built using Claude Code. It brings spatial audio, stereo width control, a full EQ, auto-enhance, and 17 scene-based presets to YouTube, Twitch, Vimeo and others. The kind of listening environment that used to live only in studio software — now one click away in your browser.

I'm an engineer with 20+ years of experience in network infrastructure. I've chased great sound my whole life — the kind that costs money, space, and probably some family patience. I feel this app falls into that category for far less.

I talk about AI and human capability every week — on my podcast, Surviving AI — and I'll go deeper into this in my upcoming book, The Protocol.

So, I built something to prove the point.

This isn't about AI replacing you.

It's about what people can build when AI closes the gap between domain expertise and execution.

I didn't wait until I became an audio software developer.

I had a vision for the experience. I just built it.

Now I can't go back to listening the way I used to.

Just like we can't go back to a world without AI.

This is an upgrade, like dropping a turbo on your daily driver. Same you. Different outputs. But your outcomes will still come down to how you step on the gas and where you decide you want to go.
